Antimony bromide is a chemical compound that is used in analytical chemistry. It reacts with diphenyl ether and selenium compounds to produce the reaction products. The reaction mechanism of antimony bromide is not yet fully understood, but it may be due to the release of energy when radiation interacts with the chemical compound. Antimony bromide can also be used as an inhibitor for corrosion in electrical equipment, such as an electrode. It is soluble in nonpolar solvents and has an acidic pH. Antimony bromide has a high melting point (above 400°C). Antimony bromide is a solid that changes color depending on its environment; it is brown when exposed to light and yellow in darkness. When heated with hydrochloric acid, antimony bromide produces particles that are insoluble in water.
