Description:

Cadmium iodide is an inorganic compound that is used in chemical reactions, such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. It has a molecular weight of 598.57 g mol-1 and a melting point of 744°C. Cadmium iodide is soluble in ethers, alcohols, and chloroform. The energy required for activation of this compound is about 2.6 eV (2.6 times 10 to the power of -19 J). This compound is a semiconductor with a band gap of 1.42 eV (1.42 times 10 to the power of -19 J). In NMR spectra, cadmium iodide appears as two lines at 3 ppm and 4 ppm because it has two different nuclear spin states. Cadmium iodide's reactive functional group is CdI-.
