Didecyl Phosphate is a reactive, hydroxy group containing organic solvent. It is used as a linker in the preparation of phosphatase substrates and as a substrate binding agent for phosphatases. Didecyl Phosphate has shown to be an effective inhibitor of fatty acid synthase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of acetyl-CoA and malonyl CoA to fatty acids and coenzyme A. Didecyl Phosphate also has surfactant properties that make it useful as a surface treatment for paper, leather, textiles, plastics, and other materials. Cryo-electron microscopy studies on liposomes composed of dialkyl phosphates have shown that Didecyl Phosphate can be used to inhibit membrane system activity.
