Product Information
3-Formylphenylboronic acid mida ester is an intermediate in the synthesis of 1,2-diaminocyclohexane. It is synthesized by reductive amination of 3-formylphenylboronic acid and an amine. This reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature in the presence of a microwave irradiation. The yield of this reaction can be increased using a reducing agent such as formic acid or sodium borohydride.
Formal Synthesis:
1) Add 3-formylphenylboronic acid to a suspension of ammonium chloride in methanol, followed by heating at reflux for 30 minutes
2) After cooling to room temperature, add the amine and heat at reflux for 2 hours
3) After cooling to room temperature, dilute with water and extract with ether
4) Extract the organic layer with water and dry over sodium sulfate
