Product Information

Name:
3-[(2RS)-2-amino-2-phenylethyl]thiazolidin-2-one
Description:

3-[(2RS)-2-amino-2-phenylethyl]thiazolidin-2-one is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be cytotoxic against lymphocytic leukemia cells. It also inhibits the proliferation of human lung cancer cells and other cancer cells in vitro. The antiproliferative effects are related to the ability of 3-[(2RS)-2-amino-2-phenylethyl]thiazolidin-2-one to react with two chloride molecules in an acid environment, forming an isothiocyanate intermediate. This intermediate reacts with ethanolamine in a nucleophilic substitution reaction, leading to the formation of a bicyclic heterocycle that causes death by DNA cleavage.
