Product Information
- 2-Formyl-3,5-dihydroxyphenyl benzoate
2-Benzoyloxy-4,6-dihydroxybenzaldehyde is a chloride derivative of an anthocyanidin. The compound is synthesized from the condensation of benzaldehyde and 4,6-dihydroxybenzoic acid. This reaction is mediated by hydrogen chloride in the presence of coupling agents such as EDAC or DCC. The carbonyl group in this compound reacts with organic compounds to form adducts that can be labelled with radioactive isotopes (e.g., Iodine 125) for use in labelling experiments. The labelling efficiency and stability of 2-Benzoyloxy-4,6-dihydroxybenzaldehyde are comparable to those of other benzoyl chlorides used for labelling purposes. The high reactivity and chemoselectivity make it a useful reagent for organic synthesis.
