Methyl 2,3-dimethylquinoxaline-6-carboxylate is a potent antibacterial agent that belongs to the group of macrocyclic compounds. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in bacterial cells and has antibacterial activity at submicromolar concentrations. Methyl 2,3-dimethylquinoxaline-6-carboxylate binds to the ribosomal RNA in bacteria and inhibits translation. Methyl 2,3-dimethylquinoxaline-6-carboxylate can be used for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by Escherichia coli, as well as other bacteria that are resistant to conventional antibiotics. This compound can be used as a topical or oral antibiotic in the form of a cream, gel, or tablet.
