1H-Pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde oxime (1PCAO) is a compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo. It has been shown to interact with cisplatin and cyclophosphamide, which are chemotherapeutic agents. 1PCAO binds to DNA and inhibits the synthesis of RNA. This binding prevents the formation of new DNA strands, leading to cell death. The interaction of 1PCAO with cisplatin leads to an increase in the number of cells that die by apoptosis or necrosis. 1PCAO can be used as a hyperchromic agent for elemental analysis, due to its ability to form complexes with metals such as copper, zinc, and cadmium.
