Product Information
Cariprazine is a drug that belongs to the class of antipsychotics. It has been shown to be effective in treating schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Cariprazine is an acylated phenyltropane derivative, which is synthesized by condensation reaction between 4-chloro-3,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid and 2-phenylethanol. The carboxyl group of 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)cyclohexanone reacts with chloride ions in water to produce a cyclic chloride compound, which undergoes an acylation reaction with cariprazine. This reaction also produces environmentally safe ammonium chloride as a byproduct.
