Product Information

Name:
3,5,6-Trichloro-4-hydrazinylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid
Description:

3,5,6-Trichloro-4-hydrazinylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid (TCHPCA) is an herbicide that is used to control weeds in crops. It is a picolinic acid derivative with a chlorinated phenyl ring. TCHPCA works by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids in plants. This compound has been shown to be effective against many weeds such as wild oats and yellow nutsedge. TCHPCA has also been found to be effective against some types of algae, such as blue green algae. TCHPCA can be prepared by reacting an alkali metal hydroxide with hydrazine followed by addition of picolinic acid.
