Methyl 3-chloro-4-hydroxyphenylacetate is a synthetic compound that inhibits the growth of prostate cancer cells. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of cancer cell proliferation and to induce apoptosis in prostate cancer cells. This compound also induces cell differentiation, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of diacylglycerol (DAG) and activate protein kinase C (PKC). In addition, methyl 3-chloro-4-hydroxyphenylacetate has been shown to have significant activity against prostate cancer cells with an acidic pH.
