Description:

4'-Cyano-4-dodecyloxybiphenyl is a monomer that can be used to enhance the parameters of mixtures. It has been shown to produce a nematic phase when mixed with other molecules, such as 4-octyloxybiphenyl, 4'-fluoro-4-dodecyloxybiphenyl, and 4'-chloro-4-dodecyloxybiphenyl. The spacing between the molecules in the mixture can be controlled by adding different amounts of this molecule to the mixture. The stability of this molecule is dependent on the technique used. X-ray diffraction studies have shown that this monomer has a stable structure.
