Cobalt (II) Carbonate hydrate is a cobalt salt that is used as a binding agent. It binds to the metal ion and minimizes the amount of metal in solution. The ligands can be organic or inorganic and are present in many forms, such as cyclic hydrocarbons, alcohols, carboxylic acids, or amines. Cobalt (II) carbonate hydrate can bind with butanol to form cobalt butoxide which is soluble in water. It is used for wastewater treatment and it also has applications in biomass production.
