Product Information

Name:
3-Methyl-5-pentyl-2-furanundecanoic acid
Description:

3-Methyl-5-pentyl-2-furanundecanoic acid is a fatty acid that can be found in the seeds of the plant Ricinus communis. It is an impurity in the manufacture of acetonitrile and thionyl chloride, as well as being used to produce pharmaceutical formulations. 3-Methyl-5-pentyl-2-furanundecanoic acid has been shown to have anti cancer activity and inhibit the methyltransferase Ezh2, which leads to decreased expression of genes involved in cell proliferation. This fatty acid also inhibits chloride channels and decreases inflammation by reducing levels of proinflammatory cytokines. 3-Methyl-5-pentyl-2-furanundecanoic acid has a particle size 100 nm and absorbs ultraviolet light.
