Product Information
Clavulanic acid is a type of penicillin-type antibiotic that is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. Clavulanic acid is an ester of benzylpenicillin, which has antibacterial activity. The pharmaceutical company introduced a new method for the detection of clavulanic acid and its metabolites by mass spectrometry, which is based on liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). This method has been successfully applied to the quantification of clavulanic acid in human urine samples. Clavulanic acid methyl ester 13CD3 is soluble in organic solvents, so it can be injected intravenously or intramuscularly. It can also be used orally, but it can only be given to patients who are not allergic to penicillins.
