3-(3-(tert-Butyl)-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoic acid is a ligand that is used in asymmetric catalysis. It is an unsymmetrical dimethyl propionic acid, which can be used to form metal complexes. 3-(3-(tert-Butyl)-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoic acid has been shown to have a high regioselectivity for oxidative coupling, giving the desired product with a high yield and selectivity. This ligand also forms chelate complexes with styrenes and is an oxidative coupling partner of propionic acid.
