N-([1,1'-Biphenyl]-4-ylmethyl)-6-phenyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazin-5-amine (NBTZ) is a potent and selective inhibitor of human VEGF. It blocks the binding of VEGF to its receptor and reduces blood vessel growth in vitro. NBTZ is a methylated analog of 6-phenyl-3-[(pyridin-2-yl)amino]-1,2,4 triazine (PTAT). The selectivity for VEGF over other angiogenic factors was confirmed by assays with recombinant human proteins and by normalization of the data.
