3-Phenoxypyridin-4-amine is a metabolite of 3-phenoxypyridine, which has antiinflammatory effects. It can be synthesized by the oxidation of 3-phenoxypyridine with nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The acetamido group in 3-phenoxypyridin-4-amine is related to its pharmacological properties, as it enables this compound to act as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. This inhibition increases the amount of acetylcholine in the synaptic cleft and leads to bronchoconstriction. 3-Phenoxypyridin-4-amine also has antihistaminic and antiinflammatory properties due to its structural similarities with nimesulide.
