Description:

3-Hexadecyl-1-methyl-1H-imidazolium bromide is an ionic liquid that is synthesized from alkyl substituents and bromide. 3-Hexadecyl-1-methyl-1H-imidazolium bromide has shown to be a good inhibitor for the hydrolysis of hydrochloric acid, with an efficiency of approximately 87%. It also has shown to have a high adsorption capacity for metal ions and electron. This ionic liquid is able to adsorb at least one electron per molecule, which may be due to its ability to form long chains of imidazolium ions.
