Lithium bis(pentafluoroethanesulfonyl)imide is a fluorinated lithium salt that is stable in the presence of air, moisture and heat. It can be used as an electrolyte for the electrochemical reaction of lithium-ion batteries. This salt has been shown to be effective for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells with high concentrations of salt, such as seawater or brine solutions. Lithium bis(pentafluoroethanesulfonyl)imide has also been shown to have ionic conductivity properties that are superior to those of other lithium salts.
