Description:

2,3-Difluoro-6-nitrobenzonitrile is a fluoride compound that can be used as an intermediate. In addition, this compound has been shown to be effective in the treatment of bacterial infections and denitrification. The use of 2,3-difluoro-6-nitrobenzonitrile as an antibacterial agent is limited by its lack of stability in water. It is hydrolyzed by water and reacts with chlorine to form chlorides. The bactericidal activity of 2,3-difluoro-6-nitrobenzonitrile is due to its ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
