4-Fluoro-5-methyl-2-nitroanisole (4FMNA) is a photolysis product of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene. It has been shown to be photochemically active and can be converted to trinitromethyl and acetonitrile by reaction with chlorine. 4FMNA is an epimer of 2,4-dichloro-5-methylphenol. The crystal structure of 4FMNA has been determined using X-ray crystallography in the form of adducts with dichloromethane and acetonitrile. This compound is an aromatic compound that can undergo nitration reactions to form adducts with x-rays.
