Description:

2,4-Bis(4-biphenylyl)-6-chloro-1,3,5-triazine is a catalyst that is used in industrial processes such as the alkylation of resorcinol with chloride to produce bisphenol A. It is also used as an absorber for chlorinated solvents and for the production of cyanuric chloride. 2,4-Bis(4-biphenylyl)-6-chloro-1,3,5-triazine can be used in Friedel-Crafts reactions to produce biphenyl. The compound has been shown to catalyze the Friedel-Crafts reaction between benzene and chlorobenzene in the presence of aluminum chloride or aluminum sulfate.
