(S)-2-Hydroxy-2-phenylethyl carbamate is a biodegradable, non-steroidal, antiinflammatory drug. It has been shown to have a potent inhibitory effect on inflammation in vitro and in vivo and it is effective against inflammatory diseases. (S)-2-Hydroxy-2-phenylethyl carbamate has been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and cavity. The drug also possesses antimicrobial activity against bacterial infections such as infectious diseases. The mechanism of action of this drug is not fully understood but it may involve the inhibition of chloride channels, which are involved in cell signaling pathways. (S)-2-Hydroxy-2-phenylethyl carbamate can be administered orally or topically through an occlusive dressing to the target tissue.
