Description:
Nicardipine-d3 hydrochloride is a stable isotope nicardipine that has been labelled with deuterium (2H) at the 3 position of the piperidine ring. The elimination rate of nicardipine-d3 hydrochloride is constant and the amount eliminated in 24 hours, relative to the dose administered, can be calculated from its elimination half-life. The elimination half-life for nicardipine-d3 hydrochloride is about 2 hours. Nicardipine-d3 hydrochloride has a kinetic parameter, k, of 0.01/hour which indicates that it should be dosed every 12 hours to maintain therapeutic concentrations in plasma. This drug is not metabolized and does not bind to plasma proteins. It is eliminated unchanged in urine and faeces.
