It has been shown to have antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 in vitro. This drug is also an inhibitor binding to the human estrogen receptor and may be used for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. Methyl 2-amino-4-[4-(difluoromethoxy)phenyl]thiophene-3-carboxylate is structurally related to palbociclib, a drug that is used for cancer treatment.
