Product Information
Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG) is a plant lignan that is found in flaxseed and other plants. SDG has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects and antioxidant properties. In one study, SDG was shown to bind to the DNA response element for the gene encoding 3t3-l1 preadipocytes and inhibit their differentiation into adipocytes. In another study, SDG was shown to bind to DNA and inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro. The binding of SDG to DNA has also been shown to upregulate genes associated with bowel disease activity.
