It binds to ubiquitin and prevents its attachment to the tumor cell, thereby stabilizing the tumor cell. BC-1258 also induces death in cancer cells by binding to the midbody in order to cause chromosomal fragmentation. This drug has been used in research for chemotherapeutic purposes and has shown promising results in animal studies.
