2-Chloro-N-(1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-acetamide (Methyl 4-(2,6-dichloro phenyl)piperazine) is an insecticide with a broad spectrum of activity against insect pests. It is used in horticultural and agricultural applications to control aphids, leafhoppers, thrips, spider mites, and other insects. The compound has been shown to be effective at very low doses. 2-Chloro-N-(1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-acetamide inhibits the growth of plants by breaking down their cell walls, which can lead to plant death. This compound also has surfactant properties that allow it to be absorbed by the waxy surfaces of plants leaves.
