4-Iodo-2-methyl-6-nitroaniline is a ligand that can be used in the amination of isopropanol. It reacts with ethylene glycol or other alcohols to form an alkylating agent. 4-Iodo-2-methyl-6-nitroaniline is reduced by tertiary butyl, alkaline potassium, or potassium phosphate to form 4,4'-diiodoacetoamidinium hydrochloride. This reaction has a high yield and can be catalyzed with alkaline potassium.
