Yoshimulactone Green (YLG) has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in a model system. YLG inhibits mitochondrial respiration, leading to inhibition of energy production and cell death. Yoshimulactone Green (YLG) has also been shown to inhibit the growth of mammalian cells in culture. Yoshimulactone Green (YLG) has shown some efficacy in treating depression as well as inhibiting the growth of cancer tissue. This molecule is a member of an aliphatic hydrocarbon family, which may be responsible for its antitumor activity.
