Meridianin is a meridianin isolated from the marine sponge Meridion sp. It has been shown to have anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as inhibitory activity on kinases. There are two known analogues of Meridianin, namely 4-ethynylpyrimidin-2-amine and 4,4'-dichloro-6-(4-ethynylpyrimidin-2-amine). The former is an indole alkaloid that has been shown to be an inhibitor of the enzyme histone deacetylase (HDAC), which plays a key role in regulation of gene expression. A nitrosoarene derivative of Meridianin has also been reported to be an inhibitor of kinases.
