3-Phenylsulfonyl-8-piperazin-1-yl-quinoline hydrochloride is an ion channel activator that has a high affinity for the GABAA receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the GABA transporter and decrease the uptake of GABA in rat hippocampal neurons. This drug may be used as a research tool for studying the effects of GABA on neuronal excitability. 3PSQQH is also a potential inhibitor of protein interactions, such as those with amyloid beta peptides associated with Alzheimer's disease.
