This chemical has been used as a cross-coupling reaction partner with organometallic reagents, such as organolithium, Grignard, or organozinc reagents. Cross-coupling reactions have also been shown to produce functionalizations on the carbon backbone with high kinetic rates. 2-(Diisopropylsilyl)pyridine was found to have an isotope effect on the rate constant for the substitution of chloroform by methanol in an organic solvent.
