Acid blue 20 is a reactive dye that is used in the textile and leather industries. It reacts with nitrous acid or other oxidizing agents to form a nitro group, which can be used to introduce an anion into a polymer film. The dye is also capable of forming covalent bonds with hydroxyl groups, phenoxy, and amide groups. Acid blue 20 has been shown to interact with benzyl, carboxy, and betaine groups in techniques such as nitration, esterification, and amidation. This dye is susceptible to oxidation by air and light over time.
