Description:

Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin that is required for the synthesis of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. It also plays an important role in energy metabolism, as well as in the synthesis of fatty acids and amino acids. Vitamin B6 is involved in the regulation of gene expression and cell proliferation. The role of vitamin B6 in DNA polymerase activity has been studied extensively. It also has potent anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity. Vitamin B6 has been shown to be beneficial for bowel disease and may reduce the risk of colon cancer.
