Zln024 hydrochloride is a synthetic peptide that is a potent and selective activator of the metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype mGluR5. It has been shown to stimulate the release of glutamate in rat hippocampal slices, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of kainate receptors. Zln024 hydrochloride can also activate mGluR5-dependent signaling pathways, such as protein kinase C (PKC) and extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 (ERK1/2), which are involved in neuronal development and neuronal plasticity.
