Product Information
4-(Allyloxy)benzonitrile is a ligand for the synthesis of organic compounds. It has been used as a nitro-containing reagent in organic chemistry. The compound can be synthesized by ring-opening of 4-acetylbenzonitrile with ethanolamine, ethylene, and temperatures. It is also possible to synthesize this compound by reacting 4-nitrobenzaldehyde with mercaptoacetic acid and chlorine. This compound has a carbonyl group and functional groups such as nitro groups and chlorine atoms. The birefringence of the crystals is 0.0213, which indicates that it is an optically active substance. Gel permeation chromatography shows that the molecule has a molecular weight of 188 g/mol. Lanthanide ions can be used to detect this substance because they are attracted to its paramagnetic properties.
