Description:
Carboxymethanesulfinyl-acetic acid is a metabolite of acrylonitrile, which is used in the manufacture of plastics. It has been detected in urine samples, tissues and water vapor. Carboxymethanesulfinyl-acetic acid has been found to have high levels in blood, with concentrations ranging from 5 to 10 times that of acrylonitrile. Carboxymethanesulfinyl-acetic acid may be responsible for the adverse effects observed in rats exposed to acrylonitrile.
