2'-Methoxy-2-phenylacetophenone is a versatile, synthetic precursor to many organic compounds. It can be dehydrogenated using metals such as copper and zinc to give the corresponding aldehydes and ketones. This product can also be used in cyclodehydration reactions with epoxides to produce substituted dihydropyrans.
