Trimethylsilyl 2-((trimethylsilyl)oxy)acetate is a tetrahydrofuran that reacts with silicon in a photophysical analysis. It is used to isolate and analyze silicon and polyethers by silylation. Trimethylsilyl 2-((trimethylsilyl)oxy)acetate can be used to synthesize cationic polymerization monomers, which are ligands for the synthesis of cationic polymerization catalysts. This compound has been shown to react with sodium salt in an ionic liquid to form trimethylsilanolates. Trimethylsilanolates are important synthetic intermediates for the production of pharmaceutical drugs and pesticides.
