N-(Quinolin-8-yl)acetamide is a carbonyl compound which has been shown to interact with metal ions, supramolecular complexes and formyl groups. This interaction leads to the cleavage of bonds and formation of reactive intermediates. N-(Quinolin-8-yl)acetamide has been shown to be reactive towards bidentate ligands, anions and amides. The carbonyl group in this substance is also fluorescent, which can be analysed using spectroscopy techniques such as ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy or Fourier transform infrared (FTIR).
