It has been found to have a catalytic effect on reactions involving carboxylic acids and amines, as well as reactions involving chlorine. 4-Hydroxyphenyl)phosphonic acid can be detected in coleoptera samples with a detection limit of 0.1 ppm. Symptoms of exposure to this compound include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache.
