Product Information
- 2(1H)-quinolinone, 7-amino-
- 7-Amino-2(1H)-quinolinone
7-Aminoquinolin-2(1H)-one is a surfactant that is used in emulsion polymerization, as a stabilizer in water paints and as an additive to detergents. It also has antibacterial properties. 7-Aminoquinolin-2(1H)-one has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by interacting with amines on the bacterial cell surface and disrupting its cell membrane. 7-Aminoquinolin-2(1H)-one is synthesized by reacting nitrobenzene with hydroxylamine. This reaction results in the formation of nitrosobenzene, which is then heated to produce the final product. The fluorescence of this compound can be seen at around 400 nm and it emits light at around 480 nm when excited with ultraviolet light.
