Product Information
Potassium pentafluorobenzoate is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of other organic compounds. A reaction system containing potassium pentafluorobenzoate and a hydroxide solution can be used to generate the cross-coupling of nucleophilic substrates with aryl or alkyl organometallic compounds. The palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction between potassium pentafluorobenzoate and an organometallic reagent results in the formation of an unsymmetrical carbon-fluorine bond. This process typically occurs at temperatures below 100 °C, which makes it synthetically convenient for low energy conditions. Potassium pentafluorobenzoate is also used as a reagent in microscopy, where it reacts with diazonium salts to form fluorescent dye images.
