Description:

3-Isothiocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane is a reactive chemical that can be used to immobilize biomolecules. It has been shown to react with galactose residues on cell surfaces and coat them with silica. This process can be used as an alternative to primary amines for the immobilization of proteins, antibodies, nucleic acids, and enzymes. 3-Isothiocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane has also been used to modify collagen surfaces and activate cells by attaching chromatographic ligands such as activated carbon or carboxymethyl cellulose. This chemical is also able to bind human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in the presence of bovine serum albumin (BSA).
