Description

N-Octadecanoylsphingosylphosphorylcholine (NODPC) is a phospholipid that is present in the plasma membrane. It is also found in the brain and peripheral nervous system, where it may play a role in the function of nerve cells. NODPC has been shown to be associated with cancer and pediatric diseases as well as chronic kidney disease. The measurement of NODPC levels can help diagnose insulin resistance and liver disease, and can also be used to monitor response to treatment for these conditions. NODPC can be synthesized from uridine at the laboratory.
