Product Information

Name:
2,3,4,5-Tetrahydrobenzo[f][1,4]thiazepine
Description:

2,3,4,5-Tetrahydrobenzo[f][1,4]thiazepine is a benzothiazepine that has neuroprotective properties. It is synthesized in two steps from 2-nitrobenzaldehyde and 4-aminophenylacetic acid. 2,3,4,5-Tetrahydrobenzo[f][1,4]thiazepine is used as a neuroprotective agent to treat neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease and cerebral infarction. The drug can be hydrolyzed to tetrahydrobenzo[f][1,4]thiazepin-2(3H)-one by alkaline phosphatase and the carboxylic acid moiety can be converted to an ester by reacting with an alcohol. The nitro group can be reduced to an amino group by sodium borohydride or hydrogenation with palladium on charcoal.
