5-Cyano-2-[4-butoxycarbonyl-1-(1,4-diazepenyl)]pyridine is a quinoline derivative that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of glutamate release. This compound binds to the CB2 receptor and inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin (IL) -1β. 5-Cyano-2-[4-butoxycarbonyl-1-(1,4-diazepenyl)]pyridine has also been shown to inhibit the activity of tropomyosin, which is an actin filament regulatory protein that regulates muscle contraction.
