3,3',4,5'-Tetramethoxypiceatannol is a molecule that is derived from the polyphenolic compound piceatannol. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of human cancer cells in culture by inducing apoptosis. 3,3',4,5'-Tetramethoxypiceatannol also inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and IL-1β. This molecule can be used to treat inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and psoriasis because it inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
